Founder of Music Speaks TEC
UK registered music therapist
(Registered Music Therapist: BAMT & HCPC, UK)
Former President of Hong Kong Music Therapy Association (HKMTA)

Ms. Emily Yeung Man Ting is a UK-registered music therapist (BAMT – British Association of Music Therapy; HCPC – Health and Care Professions Council) with over 10 years of clinical experience . She holds a Master of Arts in Music Therapy with distinction from Roehampton University in the United Kingdom. Currently in private practice, she offers music psychotherapy and professional supervision to adults and youth, adopting a deep, trauma-informed and psychodynamic approach to therapeutic support.

With a strong foundation in music-centred, psychotherapeutic practice , Emily works with clients dealing with emotional difficulties, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and complex psychological needs. Her therapeutic style integrates creative expression, verbal processing, and musical improvisation to facilitate self-exploration, emotional regulation, and personal growth.

Over the past decade, she has worked across various social service organisations and schools in Hong Kong, delivering both group and individual music psychotherapy sessions to diverse populations, including older adults, adolescents, students from special education and correctional schools, individuals with intellectual disabilities, children with special needs, and their families. She also facilitates training workshops for music therapy professionals and leads stress-management programs grounded in expressive arts and mindfulness-based approaches.

Previously, Emily served as Project Officer (Art Therapy) at Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, where she coordinated a youth arts career development program that trained young people to use art for community engagement. In this role, she also provided supervision and mentorship to emerging practitioners.

As former President of the Hong Kong Association of Music Therapy, she contributed to the development of the profession locally, particularly through her involvement in the Government’s Department of Health “Recognised Healthcare Professions Registration Scheme” working group.

Currently, Emily is advancing her studies in the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music (BMGIM) — a deeply reflective and psychotherapeutically oriented model of music therapy — allowing her to offer more in-depth emotional and psychological support to adult clients.

In addition, she has completed the UK Creative Arts Supervision (Psychotherapy-informed) Certification , and now provides formal music therapy supervision to qualified music therapists, expressive arts therapy trainees, and students in social work and special education, integrating a strong understanding of therapeutic frameworks, ethical practice, and self-awareness in clinical settings.
